So what's everyone's plans for the new year? Didn't do anything special. Taxis into the city were too expensive. So it was just a village pub crawl and then a house party at my friend's girlfriend's friend's mum's house. It was a good night.

Ultimate: She Hulk. 616: Ms. Marvel if it's Carol, if its the new Ms. Marvel than also She-Hulk simply because I have not read letter one of the new Ms. Marvel 6. Poison Ivy, she hot. 7. Ultimate and 616 I think I would have to say it's a tie. I really love both characters. 8. Another toss up. Recently Havok but in the past Gambit. In the UU I think I prefer Gambit though. 9. Ice Man 10. Favorite is Bagely's Ultimate Spidey, then Marquez's Miles and lastly would be the Black Costume 11. Ultimate Green Goblin/Norman 12. Favorite is Ultimate Jessica, then 616 Jessica. Black Widow is up there if she counts as a Spider person 13. If we are talking strictly firearms and Civilian weapons I would take an AR-15, machete and a shotgun. If it's any weapon at all a tank with a turret, an M4 Carbine and a shotgun. 14. Mario 15. My Imagination/mind.

jer, There are multiple Ms Marvel's too. And I hadn't specified which universe for any of the which do you prefer questions and funnily enough, I've actually already got planned for QT7 "Who is your favourite Green Lantern?", which is an odd coincidence. It's already finished and I can post it whenever you want. I'm glad you enjoy doing these. I hadn't done any in a while so I don't think you've missed any of them. I haven't done one since page 86 (the thread moves along slowly, lol) but I have QT7 all done and ready to go. Edit: I specified Johnny because I didn't want the android giving him an unfair advantage. 1. Green Lantern because I like all the different corps. I also really like Martian Manhunter but I don't know as much about him. I'd love to see a Martian Manhunter movie though. 2. Thor. 3. Avengers 4. Daredevil 5. Ms Marvel (Carol Danvers). I haven't read the new girl. 6. Poison Ivy! She's my favourite Batman villain after Joker. 7. Storm 8. Gambit 9. Human Torch 10. Future Foundation. 11. Carnage 12. 2099 Miguel O'Hara. 13. Sonic 14. I really love everyone's choices for this. Portal gun, Laser Gun and forcefield tech were my favourites, (depending on how much power they had of course, which should be plentiful considering fictional lore). Gosh, my brain is full of lots of cool, fantastic stuff now. I'm geeking right out over this. The machete's a good weapon too. Make sure you stab to the brain for an easy kill. That alone makes the machete one of the most effective melee weapons. You can also go for a clean slice to the neck but only if you're strong and accurate enough. You really don't want to mess that up and get your machete stuck in them. Some of the walkers will be quite fresh with denser, less deteriorated bodies. These were my original choices. 1) A knife. For getting up close and personal. I can also use it as a carving tool or turn it into a spear with some string or a pair of boot laces. 2) Glock handgun because I know two people who have one, so I can collect their ammo if they're dead. 3) Steal baseball bat because I can swing it around like a madman, if not lopping zombie heads off then at least knocking them down. This allows me to run and keep on the move on certain supply missions with very little effort, and should prove very effective when surrounded. But I'd prefer to have the Portal gun and Laser gun. 15. Nice one. I did say "you can imagine". The Alphabet is the original correct answer and I would have also accepted Language. Well done everybody. I'm really happy my riddles can provide a challenge (though probably not for Wyo). Remember to not cheat. I love hearing everyone's different answers. Thank you very much.

Name a novel you think is terrible and list things you'd change to make it better. I thought J.K Rowling wrote the vast majority of her Harry Potter characters as boring, one-dimensional clichés, especially Harry himself. He's so ordinary, wooden and lacking in personality. There were no insight into any flaws, but if he was a young guy who made lots of mistakes, he would have been a thousand times more compelling. Even the choices he made were predictable. He was written as the most famous kid in the wizarding world and anything uniquely special, he had it. So he had all the best abilities like being a Quidditch champion and a Parceltounge. And yet none of these character niches provided any change or progression to his lifeless facade. None of his traits had any effect on his personality/character. It's like he's not all there. Why not make Ron the Parceltounge instead? In fact, Ron would have made for a better protagonist altogether. That would've had something to it, whereas Harry couldn't be more dull. There are a million ways to discredit Rowling as a writer. One of which is that she stole most of her ideas from other books like the school of witchcraft and wizardry, the gifted boy with a lightning bolt scar on his forehead and wears glasses and has a pet owl, all straight from Terry Pratchett's Discworld Novels. And "Muggles" is actually a phrase from a book called Larry Potter And His Best Friend Lilly. And then her original ideas don't make any sense, like platform 9 and 3/4. Not even Quidditch makes any sense. All you have to do is catch the golden snitch and you win. But considering her lack of literary flair and blithe character development, that's the least of her problems as a writer. I've read all 7 of them and I enjoyed them as a kid, but now I look back on them in disbelief, baffled by Rowling's ability to become arguably the most successful female writer in history. Which is quite frankly completely stupid. There's no literary flair to her writing, no composition. Her writing isn't even all that fun. To understand where I'm coming from you'll probably need to read more books from female authors. Compare Rowling to say, Martina Cole, and you'll know that Rowling doesn't deserve such unprecedented success. ^ That looks awesome. I'll definitely have to check it out. It is of my personal opinion that if you're writing a story about something supernatural like vampires, you should make it as weird as possible. Vampire mythology has always been very sexual. Imagine if vampires had sex differently to humans. It was an idea I once heard Guillermo Deltoro briefly say during the Blade II director commentary. He only said it quickly, just threw it out there as something he was thinking of doing. But I once started to really think about this. It'd be nice to see vampires be able to levitate again. With this in mind, plus the stalking nature of traditional vampires and how they seduce humans, so I then also started to ponder whether vampires have sex differently to humans. This might seem a little "out there" but imagine if you walked into a room with two vampires having sex, both of them doing doggy style on the ceiling and then them looking at you with their teeth showing as though they're either going to eat you or are just aggressively telling you to piss off! lol. Vampires also like to fall in love with their prey first, like Dracula who really was in love. With this in mind, I think it would be realistic to see this kind of sexual aggression, akin to how hot and heavy vampire stuff usually is. It would be difficult to include this into a Twilight spoof, but maybe the girl protagonist could just walk into the wrong room of a household or something.
Edit: She could turn to shovel face (you know that guy with the multicoloured face?) And ask whether IT'S going to be like that, in which shovel face romantically replies "No." Haha. That would be hilarious.

I'm going in a different direction than this. The romance is downplayed and a lot less creepy as it came off during the book.

My predictions for Avengers: AoU, all of which I hope will come true.
• Tony Stark will have a strong role because 1) He's the most A-list in Marvel's cinematic universe, 2) his character has been the most successful and 3) the role he'll play as a man in regret for what he has created, wanting to help people only for it to backfire and his tech becoming a major issue for the human race, so I'm not surprised by this move. This is Tony Stark character development and Marvel are playing their best cards. I think AoU will prove to be better than The Avengers (Avengers Assemble in some countries) because that wasn't a very good character story for anybody. Giving your actors good script to work with is important. And given that character focus to the plot in which the original was lacking, I think this movie will trump the original in every way, simply because it seems it'll be a bit more than just a culmination of franchise budget on special effects. It will be that. But it will be a bit more too. I didn't like most of the acting in The Avengers, even though I liked them in their respective movies beforehand, and I think this was partly due to a weak script with not a lot of good material for them (Evans, Hemmingworth and Downey) to work with. At least AoU has set up a good role for Tony. Downey Jr. is Marvel's finest actor after all.
• I'm really excited to see the Vision. And I'm willing to bet he'll be the Avengers' secret weapon against Ultron, and part of Tony's desire to put things right during the film's second act, creates Vision to help combat the menace. I think the Vision will be the one to destroy Ultron. He'll be called "The Vision" symbolic to Tony's realisation to make things better. But maybe I'm wrong and the big fight between Ultron and Vision will be a red herring, and someone else like Captain America will be the one to finish Ultron off. But still "this world needs a lot more than just any of us" sounds a lot to me like set up for a Plan B, and by that I mean the Vision. So I'd be very, very surprised if the movie didn't at least hint at Vision being the solution at some point in the movie.
• I've said this lots and lots of times already, but I was very disappointed to not see Thor shine like I wanted him to in The Avengers, akin to the godly powerhouse he's supposed to be (The Ultimates Chitauri fight for example). But I look at that big AoU poster and I look at Thor and he certainly looks more powerful. I'm pleased about that. So I'm really looking forward to seeing Chris Hemmingsworth get a bit more of the special effects, money, and raw power! The mighty Thor!

I've just read the All-New Ultimates HC and it was brilliant! I think it's easily the best Ultimate HC in many, many years. I dropped the line shortly after the relaunch last year but now I'm thinking of coming back. I really want to see more from Cloak and Dagger. I found the story to be a very fresh, vibrant concept but also a very gritty, grounded character story for this new teenage superhero team. I can't believe there isn't going to be a second volume.
I understand the book was cancelled and now the UU is just down to one book. I suppose now, the plan is to merge everything into 616 to try and make it better.

I hope they don't merge everything in the most literal way. I suppose it'd be fine bringing fan-favorite characters over, but honestly I prefer the UU remain alive. Anyway, so we all know Marvel rules the movie side of things with DC being the kings of television, but lately DC's cartoons have been lacking. I like Teen Titans Go, but there isn't much else there. What if they had a show called Batgirls. Barbara would be Oracle and the leader with Cassandra Cain on missions, then Stephanie would show up and kinda be the newbie.

I hope they don't merge everything in the most literal way. I suppose it'd be fine bringing fan-favorite characters over, but honestly I prefer the UU remain alive. Back in 2006/2007 it became abundantly clear that the Marvel executives wanted to try and fix and focus more on their convoluted, primitive and dysfunctional 616, and a lot less on Ultimate, 50 books rather than 4. This is why growth and AAA writers were no longer used to grow and build our more mature, more grounded and realistic Marvel world, and instead those writers were secretly only being sent to Ultimate as a testing ground for their much favoured/profitable 616. Regardless of Loeb's destructive writing or any writer for that matter, and regardless to anyone Marvel hired for the UU, it still only falls down to focusing on 50 books instead of 4 and the business decisions that sprouted from this incentive. Monetary incentive is always, always detrimental to creative projects and is often inadvertently a creative project's downfall, be that lengthening a series longer than it needs to be or milking the cash cow in various other ways. But it's 50 books in comparison to 4, and Marvel have a business to run. The Marvel executives don't give a f*** about fan complaints. They know fans will eat up whatever BS they provide. And if fans do complain, that only leads to more media coverage, which in turn, brings in more wealthy fans who are happy to buy crap just to check it out. Nothing is truly sustainable in their creative idea anymore. None of it is. It's about the sustenance of profit, not the sustenance of excellent creativity, with every media promotion of the line being a quick fix until they come up with something else. And if the fans don't like it, that just makes it hot news. And in fairness, Marvel can't run a business on just four books. They're also financially competitive with other publishers like DC, constantly competing with each other to churn out more books and raise book sales via media. They're competing for current market share, rather than using their creative resources to EXPAND the market, like Ultimate did in the early 2000s. With this in mind, it's becomes obvious that Marvel were wrong to have such a blithe and callous approach to such vital aspect of what made them so successful at the turn of the century. They need to realise that it's fresh, GOOD creative ideas that expand the market. But don't get me wrong, It isn't just about trying to take over the majority of the current market with silly media tactics about patriotism and lying to the public that big changes and interesting story developments are coming, when all they're really going to do is just casually mix up the cast of a superhero team. Neither is it just about making the best stories they can afford anymore. But more than anything else, it'sabout addressing the financial concerns of their business executives through uncreative media manipulation. They don't want to make timeless stories - they've already done that - now they just want money, sustaining their profits through market share rather than market growth. And from that business perspective, of course, 50 books are better than 4, regardless of how good any 4 titles can be. Even if half those 50 books are terrible, all those creative failures still bring in a lot more money than trying to sustain the sheer, golden creative quality of 4. What I'm saying is, I can completely understand Marvel's lack of love and focus towards the UU, but as a fan of some of their best work, I definetly don't agree with it. That's not to say there haven't been good books from the 616 line in recent years though - not at all - it's just that it doesn't take a genius to see where Marvel's priorities lie.

And the Marvel universe is ending. Sorta. I haven't heard about this (within the past few years). Could you post me a link?

That appears to be about the ending of 1610 but not 616. I honestly wouldn't mind if they cancelled both actually, if only for them to start fresh and do the hard reboot DC were to afaid to do.
