There were always only two characters I hated: Jean and Mary Jane. I don't hate the latter anymore, but grown-up Jean is still on my disapproval list. Why, why, and why? Well for Jean it was because of how she acted. I didn't quite feel she deserved Scott. Kinda the same thing with MJ and Peter. She wanted him to quit being Spider-Man despite the immense amount of help he does for the world, sometimes even saving it? Nah girl, you're crazy. But recent storylines have helped me not hate her. And Young Jean hasn't yet become a jerk, so she's cool especially in All-New X-Men.

MJ has very rarely not been supportive of Peter being Spider-Man and Jean is awesome. Get Marvel Unlimited. It's pretty cheap for what you get.

I read a lot of comics. And I'm referring to one specific scene with MJ and Peter rather than all their history. And of course Jean has some amazing things and been a cool person, but again it's been specific moments I couldn't get over. Young Jean is fine though, I love the early X-Men stories.

No offence, but 616 MJ is a manipulative whore. She's never come across to me as being genuine. She's a sket who acts spoilt and privy. Her attitude and mannerisms have often disgusted me. They make her seen cheap and selfish.
I agree though that Jean is pretty awesome. But I don't know why she hung out with Scott so much. He's such a dork, but I found it quite nice and pleasant that she liked him back. I found that quite sweet.
Ultimate MJ all the way. She's entirely different to her bitch counterpart.

Well I wouldn't go that far with MJ. And Jean was always looking for a good excuse to make out with Wolverine. That lowers my respect for someone pretty instantly.

I can't tell if you're joking or not. Nope, Jean Grey is dead. Past Jean is alive. Then that's a good point, but Wolverine's popularity has grown a substantial amount over the years, so I don't see Marvel killing up permanently, but if I'm proven wrong I'll be happy.

I don't think any really popular character needs to be killed permanently. I mean, this is comics after all. If you haven't accepted what comes with that, you never will. Sure, it would probably shake things up, but then wouldn't it kinda suck to lose a bunch of popular characters and never see them again? I mean, the only comic I am regularly subscribed to is Amazing Spider-Man. If he died permanently and wasn't replaced? I'd be devastated. And I likely wouldn't feel the need to scrounge up cash to get any comic, since I'm mostly interested in Spider-Man and can take or leave anything else.

When Marvel say they're gonna permanently replace or kill a very popular character, it's never true. Edit - In case you get the wrong idea, no I don't want characters like Wolverine to be killed off, but if I'm proven wrong about them always coming back, then it's good to see Marvel taking risks.

I have to ask ... although part of me doesn't want to. How is MJ a manipulative whore? In the first Spider-Man movie, she was classic MJ, with all the nuances that so many nerds loved her for. Almost her entire portrayal in that film is practically about her interest in four different guys. Let's review here, Mary Jane, in Spiderman 1 was dating Flash. In the same movie, she goes on to date Harry and even cheats on him by kissing Spiderman. By the end of the movie, she has a thing for Peter. Now, she doesn't know that Peter is Spiderman, so in her mind, she's trying to: "get with" or "f**k" 4 different guys, depending on your opinion. And in the first 150 issues of ASM, she flirts with nearly every guy she interacts with that's of similar age, or at least in every single 616 comic book I've read where she's featured (I read the first 150 issues on Marvel Unlimited). And I'm not a fan of her behaviour in any of it. She gets so much enjoyment from guys wrapped round her finger, "but did she have to, did she have to, did she have to let it lingerrrrrrrr." (Sorry, I couldn't help myself ) Before Gwen Stacy's death, MJ was portrayed as a typical mindless... "slut" for a lack of a better term. A "party girl" would perhaps be a better term. But even afterwards, she kept acting like a spoilt rich girl. She's kind of like the stereotypical archetype of a supermodel. "Face it, Tiger. You just hit the jackpot." Some people might more accurately call her a bit of a "bimbo". She was somewhat interested in Peter, but never made any effort to be with him. Of course, focusing on the romance in early Spider-Man comics is like banging your head against a wall. ...Which I strongly believe is part of the appeal of early Spider-Man comics. You had all these good looking girls, Betty, Gwen etc. but MJ was that street-smart, ambitious girl that couldn't be trusted, portrayed as that forbidden fruit, who was actually not so "forbidden" due to her fascination in the mysteriously sweet Peter Parker, which rather uniquely created massive sexual desire in her mind. A huge turn on for nerds everywhere. Then there's the animated series of Spider-Man from the 90's, in which she's utterly manipulative and whore-ish with most of the tings she says like she's playing Peter Parker like a fool and a tool. And it's seriously amazing how profound her personality is portrayed in this way, but it's cool that the writers attempted to honour her original incarnation. The looks she gives are the looks of a sexually starved teenager. One ting's for certain, you see any girl with the dopey, sex craved eyes of Mary-Jane and you just know she's not to be trusted. I don't trust her one bit. She's NY's Mary-go-round. Get it? She's trouble. She started off as that stereotypical rich girl from the US (the sort you see in a lot of awful American teen dramas), she knew she was good looking and was fully aware of her power over the poor helpless guys she dated. In the classic mythos she is consistently portrayed as a silly, stuck up super model whom Peter had a massive crush on. Throughout the first run of ASM Stan wanted Gwen to be the only one for Peter, not MJ. I think that's why she was written as so somewhat immature. Of course, her personality has changed completely when it was decided that she was to be Spidey's premiere love interest. But "classic MJ" was still strongly apparent in other continuities like the animated series. I know she's been developed more genuinely since, but I just can't get her original portrayal out of my head. From the first 150 issues of Amazing Spider-Man, to The Animated Series and then to her movie counterpart, it's evident that in those stories she is without a doubt a manipulative slut, pardon my French. I know this has been my only exposure to her character, but other than the brilliant and adorable Ultimate MJ, she's left a bad taste in my mouth. Mary-Jane has gone on to be written as a sweet, loving girlfriend in stories such as Spider-Man: Blue, Spider-Man Loves Mary-Jane, among many other stories, but then the writers even had the audacity to change continuity by making Gwen the slut who slept with Norman Osborn. Suffice to say, I was not a fan of these changes. Rumor: Wesley Snipes to Reprise Blade Role!Okay, so I liked the first two Blade movies and the third one sucked. Let's not kid ourselves though, all three are pretty bad but Snipes performance just makes it so damn fun to watch. Now imagine someone with talent (AKA someone who ISN'T David S Goyer) is writing his lines. *drool* I agree but when I was eight years old, Blade was the dog's bollocks. I loved it so much. There was enough blood to re-float the Titanic. But even when tings got seriously bloody, it was never scary. Just awesome. Especially all those exploding injections towards the end of the movie. I don't think any new Blade film will be able to better the original. "There are worse things out tonight than vampires." (Twirls his sword) "Like what?" (Sheaths sword) "Like me." I really like the stories of Blade 1 & 2. Sure, they're not perfect and you can fault them, but I'd rather not because I really enjoyed them and thought the films were genuinely good action horror movies overall. I also just want to say, the intro scenes in each of the Blade films are so freaking badass. Especially in the first one in that club.

That was the one I could find. I was in 10th grade I think when I read most of those comics. It took me awhile to even find that one, a bunch of reverse image searches and figuring out which X-Men issue it was. It's pretty well known Jean wanted Logan and me and unfaithfulness don't mix well. And when I drop a subject, it means I'm done with it. I've spent too much time arguing with people over the Internet and offline and it never helps, so I just stop talking about whatever upsets me.

Jean may have flirted with Logan a lot but she was completely faithful to Scott. Scott was, depending on your definition of cheating, faithful to Jean. Scott telepathically cheated on Jean with Emma Frost. He did however leave his wife and child for Jean. I'm not arguing, I'm discussing. You brought something up, I asked you what made you thimk that and we are discussing it. If you don't want to talk about it why bring it up in the first place then?
