7. Getting high school students to build successful rockets That sounds like a lot of fun. It has always been my position, how many Batman and Superman movies does the world need? Batman especially!!! Not saying I don't like those films but come on DC do another DC Superhero already. You got the two Batman Movie Serials. The old Batman movie from the 1960s. Tim Burton's Batman. Batman and Robin, Batman Forever. THE ANIMATED BATMAN MOVIES, Batman Beyond. The Batman Trilogy in recent years, and finally Batman in the new Superman movie. You had the tv show "Birds of Prey" which had a small connection to Batman. Hasn't the world got enough yet?! Give me a Nightwing Movie already! I'm pretty sure whatever they do with it, won't hurt Batman's reputation. It'll be another Batman movie on the pile. And @ Wolverine12I have never in my life known anybody want to take a holiday in Germany. It's very clean, it's very efficient, but people just don't go there. Can I ask why you two want to visit Germany? I'm curious. Fun Fact: Half of Germany's energy supply is run on just solar energy. 50%!! That deserves a round of applause. It can be pushed or blown downwards. Oktober Fest. Beer. Sausages. Einstein was German. Plus, it would be interesting to see the birth place of the "National Socialist Party". and yes, hydrogen can be manipulated, but naturally it doesn't come back down ... unless of course you apply an external force and it's a valid answer because you didn't specify an answer that couldn't be push downward.

The only thing I specified was something that goes up but can't come back down. Hydrogen can move downwards, so it can come back down.

What's the one comic book run you could see being an animated show? None. Direct adaptation shows a lack of creativity and is incredibly lazy. Why work hard at creating OC when you can repost?

I disagree. Again I'm going to point to how anime adapts manga and it's still great. The fun of seeing those black and white still images on the screen with sound and color is a lot more fun than you think. I'd love to see Dan's run become its own show because that would be amazing. I'm just not gonna post.

Question Time IVJust in case this was ever queried, Top 3s, Top 5s, Top whatever are always welcomed in answering question time. 1. Who do you prefer, Batman or Wolverine? 2. What's your most beloved computer game franchise? (Even if you're not a gamer at all, pick one in which you must've played and enjoyed at some point. Tetris or Pacman maybe?) 3. During your childhood, who was your favourite cartoon character? It's not mandatory but a Top 3 would be nice. 4. Which do you prefer? Inglorious Bastards or Django Unchained? 5. Why? 6. What's the best meal you've had this year? 7. What do you plan to achieve? Name a single goal or ambition that you have. (You're all reasonably young guys here so ignoring this question is completely unacceptable! ) 8. What is your favourite fruit? 9.There will undoubtably be a new Batman movie some time after Batman vs Superman has been released. How do you want this Batman movie relaunch to be? What would you like to see in it? 10. What's your favourite takeaway/takeout? 11. Name two or three countries you would like to visit or have a holiday there. (More a statement than a question really, but it's sort of like asking a question.) 12. Riddle me this. What goes up but doesn't come back down? 1. Wolverine. I was very close in choosing Batman over Wolverine because I prefer his stories and I love his cast of villains. But as a character, it has to be Wolverine, for me. Wolverine's powerset it so, so much fun. And Batman's moral ambiguity doesn't make any logical sense. His ultimate agenda is to save lives. But by letting villains like the Joker live, he's indirectly letting thousands die, potentially hundreds of innocent children dying in awful ways. If he's so passionate about stopping innocents from getting hurt, he should dispose of the problem. Any way you look at it, keeping these villains alive doesn't solve anything. They won't stay locked up, more people will die and Batman will have to chase them down again only for more innocents to die again. An ongoing cycle of death in which Batman continually refuses to stop. And besides, Wolverine has arguably the most badass set of powers for a comic book character ever. 2. Metal Gear. 3. 1) Vegeta, 2) Bugs Bunny, 3) Goku. 4 & 5. Django Unchained because of the romance! Let me educate you guys for a moment. Quentin Tarantino is the BEST at writing romance. Pulp Fiction's "A Date With Mrs Wallace" Diner scene, the kiss at the end of Jackie Brown and the surprising, heartfelt twist that was Kill Bill Vol.2 were astounding. But Django Unchained was Quentin Tarantino's romantic masterpiece. If a man hurts your lady, you're going to make him hurt a lot worse. "Who did that to yoooouu? Mah baby." 6. My girlfriend doesn't usually cook for me, but she did back in February and it was F'ing delicious. I had never had it before. I had four really thick strips of pork belly (which I had never had before and was delicious), mashed sweet potato with the meat juices from the pork belly soaked into it (which I also had never had before and was really delicious) and a fried up Spanish salad (carrots, red peppers, cherry tomatoes and mushrooms). Every bite was so tasty and the foods really complimented each other. 7. I would like to have enough money to support my family and take them on holiday every couple of years. Problem is, in this economy, having children is always becoming less and less affordable. 8. MANGO! 9. Similarly to what Wolverine12 suggested, I would like it to be slightly less realistic than Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, and more of a true example of Batman from the comics. I also really don't want another origin story. I mean, how many do we need? I think it should take place at the height of Batman's career, with mob bosses like Penguin, Black Mask and Two Face running criminal organisations in Gotham. Actually, I think the Batman: Arkham Asylum game would be perfect. I look forward to seeing a Titan enhanced Poison Ivy again. Yeah, just copy the Arkham games. 10. Chinese 11. I would like to live in the Caribbean for a couple years, paint boats, smoke weed in banana leaves, drink white rum and dance all night to reggae music cuz ah love da riddims. Plus, in no particular order, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Vietnam. Other notable mentions: Canada, Switzerland, Holland and Africa. Are any of you aware of how beautiful Vietnam is? It's a cheap place to go to as well apparently. You guys should check out the Top Gear Special where Clarkson, Hammond and May tour Vietnam. Great Top Gear episode. 12. Your age. I don't know. I just started scripting it today. That must've felt goood. Mr_Monster_Munch, I have family history in Germany so that's part of the the reason I want to go there, to see where I came from. Plus I live in a desert so seeing green is always neat. My wife has a cousin that works/lives in Germany so we have a free place to stay. I would also like to visit the historical monuments in Europe from WWII. That makes a lot of sense. (Not that Jer's doesn't.)

None. Direct adaptation shows a lack of creativity and is incredibly lazy. Why work hard at creating OC when you can repost? This, pretty much. There are countless nuances that could be applied to an animated series adapted from a comic book. Just think how much awesome fun can be had with all the battles in a book like Civil War! The Cap vs Iron Man battles would be a sight for sore eyes, with the bright light and shaky camera effects bringing a close range Unibeam blast to devastating effect as it rebounds off Cap's shield. Or the effects of Cap's heavy metal shield smashing in Iron Man's cybernetic helmet. Or Iron Man's suit learning and copying Cap's fighting movies, sounding all zippy and techy whilst receiving heavy punches and boot stomps from Cap. Then there's the reveal of Cloak and all the heroes he teleports into battle, and displaying it as a surprising and very epic moment as dozens of heroes sour down to the battleground below them. Or the bullet fired by Punisher's rifle, zooming down the echoey sewers, until it hits Jack O' Lantern's head. Lantern slops to the floor with his pumpkin skull split open with glowing pumpkin matter pouring out of it. This is an example of how limited page time dampens the effect of what should be an intense moment. The artist just isn't going to draw five panels for a single gun shot. There's so much creativity that can be utilised to turn the limited amount of panels into free flowing action. As well as slow-mo and blur effects, there's things like displaying the sense of panic from a hunted character hiding behind a wall, trying to control their heavy breathing, or the shattering of glass as Cap jumps through a window, and as the 3D camera follows him, after the glass shatters, the noisy gunfire from indoors is quietened by the sound of fresh air and tweeting birds, the setting sun beaming brightly, right before Cap's boot slams down upon a speeding aircraft as the noisy action suddenly kicks in again. There's so many things that can be done through bringing these pages to life. The problem with comics is that slow motion isn't very effective, because there isn't really any motion to slow down. And there's not really a volume of sound to provide weight and true effectiveness to the impact of one object hitting another. There are new action scenes that could be added too. There's the tie-ins that can be used. And all the big one-on-one battles we didn't really get to see much of in the comic. A massive diversity of heroes to clash with one another. Pretty much almost any two characters could fight each other at any given time, even heroes and villains we didn't get to see in the comic. There's a lot of talent that can be used when choreographing battles. It's something comics don't really bother with, which is a shame because action is one of superhero comics' biggest draws. But animated adaptions could bring so much to the high octane action epics that comics like Civil War NEED to be. Civil War just doesn't work very well as a comic because of the lack of emphasis the artists can't really push for when depicting huge battles. But film isn't restricted by the corporate and financial stagnation of page time. In less than twenty seconds, an animated piece of work can truly bring action to life unlike any other medium. Civil War with all the emphasis on action it desperately needs and strives for within it's restricted page time, just doesn't work very well as a comic book because of the amount of action scenes that are in it, as it would take two - maybe even three - issues to properly depict a full fight scene as awesome as it can possibly be. Animating a comic book wouldn't suck the creativity out of it. That's a preposterous assumption to make. It would provide more creativity to the story, it would flesh it out and truly do the action scenes justice. We're superhero fans. We get off on superhero action. We need it in our lives. If comics are a medium of storytelling that can't portray action as awesome as it should be, then it's up to animation to adapt the more action packed comics. There's more to it than action and special effects though. A scared, hunted character hiding behind something, trying to control their heavy breathing is a cinematic intensity that comics simply can't claim. In comics, you really need to use your imagination during fight scenes so that you don't come away feeling disappointed by what should have been astounding. I often wonder whether other comic book readers feel and "hear" the heavy weight of Batman's boot as he comes crashing down upon a helpless thug, as I do when I'm lost in a comic book story. I could go on forever about this. There's the many, many ways to depict the presence of different characters. It's not simply a case of drawing someone in a cool way. Musical score CAN mean EVERYTHING to a scene. Afterall, music is often what makes so many famous cinematic scenes so memorable. It enhances the emotion, sometimes astoundingly so. And sometimes it's not about music, but focusing on a particular sound effect whilst profoundly dampening all the other sounds in the background, for example the gun fire and laser beams, whilst focusing on Cap's footsteps, deepening the sound of his boots scuffing the ground as he approaches the heavily damaged Iron Man laying upon the rubble. But you obviously have a different opinion.

Yah! Germany won the world cup. Go Germany. Go German Nationalism. That never ended badly right? Lol, jk. Not since they swore an oath to only use their military within their own country. And that was three quarters of a century ago. They learnt their lesson 3/4 of a century ago whereas we're still invading helpless nations today, even those that don't have their own military. But Germany have remained faithful to their promise. Germany aren't the war mongers. We are. Germany is one of the most peaceful nations in the world. They don't like war, they disagree with it and so they refuse to participate in it. (However, this is more a statement of their government in comparison to others. It would be horribly inaccurate for me to presume an entire nation's values). Fun Fact: 50% of Germany's energy is just solar. That's amaaaaazing. That deserves a huge round of applause from everybody. It's a brilliant achievement. Germany don't need to go to war because their economy is pretty good in comparison to everybody else's. Whereas we attempt to improve our economy and raise our national profits by slaughtering innocent people, even children. Germany on the other hand aren't stupid. They can actually sustain the people's needs without killing people. And then you take a look at all the other countries and their complete stupidity in managing the sustenance of basic human needs. Look at the amount of trees we have that aren't growing any fruit. It's staggering just how utterly stupid we are. Soil provides everything a human being could ever want or need. And yet, for no reason at all, we just plant grass and concrete all over it instead of taking away the soil first so that it's precious, oh so precious minerals can be extracted before the soil is remineralised again. It's the source of everything a human being could ever want or need. Germany understand this, especially considering the economic turmoil they were plunged into during the latter half of WW2. They've learnt from their mistakes. Whereas we continue to be the most evil, corrupt, vicious, brutal and most blood thirsty countries in the world. What's more is that our militant ways are fatal to the sustenance of everyone on Earth. But the really wonderful surprise is the admiration of the entire football culture towards Germany. Football hooligans are (as a group) a very irrational and idiotic culture of people. Particularly the British. And the people of Britain usually adopt very racist values towards the Germans. But now all of that has changed drastically since Germany beat Brazil last week. And it warms my heart like a hot bulb that instead of being racist, there is respect where respect is due. From a football fan's perspective, Germany are fantastic. Whereas English football is a travesty. Spain may have Ronaldo. Argentina may have Messi. But Germany have a team. They've studied and figured out how to play to win the World Cup. They've adapted their style of football to be contemporary yet aggressive. They're a great team who deserved to win.

Unfortunately, no. I think I somehow missed a season? I don't really know how it slipped by me. I'll catch up sometime though. Hey Sinx, whatever happen to you watching Star Trek? Did you finish? Finally on TNG at least? Something sidetracked me and I can't remember what it was. I watched a handful of TOS episodes and the first three or so of TNG. I quite liked them. I've been meaning to get back to it, but I just don't have the time anymore. =( Jer, I'm moving to Chicago in August and I'll be needing a new comic store. Any recommendations that preferably offer subscription discounts? I'm surprised some of you want to visit England for a holiday. You can't get high in England. Our government actually sends people to prison just for wanting to get high. It's become quite crazy over here. One thing that really irritates me are the thousands of empty fields, all of the open land that never gets used. You'll see foliage everywhere, but with no food growing on it. Our countryside can be quite nice, particularly up by the Lake District, but again, you'll see so much open space with literally no resources growing at all. It's madness. We have poverty in every country in the world.. it'll make you so sick to your stomach how blithe the British government is at sustaining human needs. We have literally no respect for soil, even though it produces everything anyone could ever want or need. We see a patch of land and we just grow grass on it. Grass! You'll be flabbergasted by how much grass we grow. And Great Britain is home to more than 5 billion trees, 99% of which don't grow a single piece of fruit. Britain is a stupid, stupid country. There's no sense in anything we do. You take one train journey and you will see so many trees and empty fields that you'll be in despair from our vast wastefulness. Long term: become a published (either self published or with a company. I'm not picky.) comic book artist. What? Why haven't I seen any of this art?! I've always had a strange fascination for England. I couldn't tell you why. I'd like to visit just to see the sights, experience the pubs, and take my picture at Platform 9 3/4. =p As for the art, I'm not nearly good enough yet to be showing it around. I've been trying to draw a lot more and define a style. Maybe I'll post something new in the coming weeks for you.

If you live farther west then you want "Alternate Realities" which is a bigger comic store and they do offer discounts but the owner is sortof rude. Graham Cracker is downtown near "The Bean" and "The Art Institute of Chicago". Pretty cool store but I don't remember if they offer subscription discounts. Utopia Season 2 starts tonight!!!Anyone here watch that? It's amazing. And IMO the best television creation Britain has to offer. It's violent. And it's the best British cast on TV since... I can't remember. Even Sherlock is piss-poor in comparison to this epic series. That's right. Piss-poor. The first series was only 6 episodes long but it's some of the best television I've ever seen, the huge pending twists start to unravel from the very first episode and the cast is ethnically diverse and are superb actors and actresses. It's a must see. I picked up the first issue and I loved it. I find the current MU to be much more entertaining than Ultimate nowadays. For the first time in many years, I'm not pulling any of the Ultimate books. Yeah, I stopped pulling the Ultimate line about six weeks ago. I still really like it, but there's much better stuff going on over in 616 at the moment.
