It seems we passed a landmark awhile back, and I missed it.
In November, Marvel is shipping four $4.99 books and only two $2.99 books.
Does anyone here know when Marvel's $4.99 books first outnumbered its $2.99 books? I suppose I could dig through past solicits, but I'm too lazy.

Because I am a glutton for punishment, I flipped through Marvel's solicits dating back to January 2014, and the numbers are interesting. Month | # of $4.99 books | # of $2.99 books | November 14 | 4 | 2 | October 14 | 6 | 5 | September 14 | 13 | 6 | August 14 | 6 | 7 | July 14 | 2 | 6 | June 14 | 5 | 9 | May 14 | 9 | 8 | April 14 | 3 | 8 | March 14 | 3 | 11 | February 14 | 3 | 15 | January 14 | 2 | 13 |
- May was the first month that Marvel shipped more $4.99 books than $2.99 books. - Since January, Marvel's selection of $2.99 books has dropped from 13 to 2. - Marvel's $4.99 price tag still appears to be reserved for "special" issues, with the exception of Miracleman. - That said, Marvel isn't shying away from the $4.99 price point. They shipped 13 of them in September.

Don't like it, don't buy it. It's simple, easy, and tells them what they can and can't do.

That's an interesting observation, Rocky. I find it odd that single issues will be sold for that much and that there's probably a possibility that it will be financially sound for Marvel, when a lot of trade collections are sold for that price.

Don't like it, don't buy it. It's simple, easy, and tells them what they can and can't do. Long story short, I only buy a handful of floppies these days. I do the majority of my comic book reading in digital, with $1.99 issues at Comixology and a monthly all-you-can-eat subscription to Marvel Unlimited.

Yah I find it odd as well. Then again it is 2014 and we are safely into Phase 2 of the MCU. Maybe Marvel is just expecting a lot more new readers that believe this is a normal price for this period of time.

Adamantium is the only metal/substance that can pierce his skin. So yeah Wolverine could fuck him up. So after seeing the solicitations how do you feel about going broke in November? You have no idea lol. All the Legacy of Logan stuff and Weapon X plus I think I'm buying Spider-verse for it's connection to the UU. That means I'll probably be buying some tie ins too.

Attack on Titan Episodes 3-6 and how awesome they were spoilers... Episode 3 was another really good episode. The cast expanded significantly and I really like the new characters. And I must strongly state, the Japanese voice acting is utterly sublime at all times. This is the anime epic I've always wanted to follow. Youths as young as twelve are becoming cadets, regimented and conditioned in military warfare. Mikasa got some really good scenes, a little more insight behind her 'I'm so hot and mysterious' mannerisms. New girl Sasha is another interesting and likeable female character, but she's very different to Mikasa, the series vixen. Sasha is more innocent and impulsive in her behaviour. Everything about this series has been 10/10 so far and I'm already emotionally invested in all of the teenage characters and most of the adults too. Time is moving at a fast pace between episodes. Already on Episode 4, many years have passed since the Titans returned with their colossal leader. And it's graduation day for the recruits who are to become the next line of soldiers. The beginning of this episode was pretty awesome seeing all the new young soldiers in training. Their drill sergeant goes through the character profiles and bios, going through each of their talents as an intriguingly epic way to kick off the episode, seeing these once troubled characters become skilled, aggressive fighters. There are more new characters introduced too, like Annie, the badass blonde who's unmatched in hand to hand combat. By the end of the episode, the recruits have graduated. They're now all young adults with exceptional fighting skills. The walls have been rebuilt and the city's mounted cannons have been improved. There's a wonderful sense of optimism to this new generation of humanity's defences. But then suddenly... the Titans come back. And the violence and bloodshed begins once more. The young heroes are thrown unexpectedly into a battle with the Colossal Titan. It's triumphantly epic. The dialogue, action, animation, sound and colourful art along with the determination of Eren and other characters within the onslaught is breathtaking to experience. The battle rages on in episode 5. Eren swings round the Colossal Titan with talented poise and quick speed. Then all the other Titans enter the outer wall and all hell breaks loose. Eren thinks back to his class education on the Titans, revealing their seemingly unstoppable regenerative abilities, and as the canons fire upon them, they just regenerate their flesh, limbs and decapitated bodies and press onward into the city. The people of the nearby city districts escape via ferries and boats to the more protected districts. The humans are more prepared this time around, but the Titans seem far too unstoppable with their regenerate abilities. The canons can only slow them down. Then the Advanced Team of humanity's warriors are wiped out, and suddenly it's all up to the new recruits to take on the massive onslaught of Titans that are destroying the city of Throst. As Eren thinks back to his training, we see more flashbacks into how he and his fellow soldiers were taught to kill Titans. There's a weak spot on the back of their necks. A precise downward stab into the back of their necks will kill them instantly and they won't be able to regenerate from it. Which is great, because I had been very curious as to how the humans could possibly take out a single Titan with their swords as their only lethality. I was thinking there might be an enchanted sword that can cut through Titan bone, but this explanation is much better because it's focused on sheer skill and not magic, so it's not a cliché advantage sprung when it's convenient. There's so much emotion in the battles taking place. Eren and his team are brave and valiant as they attempt to take out their colossal threats. But each of the Titans are so supremely more powerful and devastating than anyone imagined. There's so many of them and they keep coming. There's a breed of Titans called the Abnormals. The Abnormals are like retarded berserker Titans that run at high speeds. A lot of the characters are killed off. It's really brutal. Eren's team are being massacred. Armin's in trouble. It seemed like he got killed by one of the Titans. Eren, fatally wounded, looks on as he's about to see his best friend get swallowed whole, reminiscing about their plan to see the outer-world together some day, he jumps into the Titan's mouth and saves him. He pulls him out. And then Armin gets up from where he's thrown to and looks on as Eren - THE MAIN CHARACTER! - is eaten! Armin knew he had to save Eren, but he couldn't. He was too scared. He was scared stiff as he watched his best friend die. And I can't believe Eren, the mighty, determined protagonist just got killed off like that! What are the humans supposed to do now? IT'S LIKE KILLING OFF LUKE SKYWALKER HALF WAY THROUGH THE STAR WARS TRILOGY!. Episode 6 sees Mikasa fighting the Titans. And she's AMAZING. As the series badass, her skill is impeccable. She takes on a Titan. And she defeats it! As the first Titan falls, she looks on at the vast number of Titans destroying the city around them. The Titans are flooding in at full force. Mikasa hears of the massacre of Eren's scout team. Fearful that her adopted brother might not have survived, she thinks back to their past. The majority of the episode is a flash back sequence explaining the origins of how Eren and Mikasa met when they were very little. Eren saves her from murderous gangsters of a pedophile ring. It's quite a dark origin tale, but it beautifully explains Eren and Mikasa's bond, how Eren tells her to fight back and why he means so much to her. As the episode draws to a close, it flashes back forward to Mikasa fighting the Titans with her team. Unaware that her friend and beloved adopted brother has been killed, she spurs onward. "Eren, I can do anything as long as I've got you." I love Mikasa. At 19 years old, she's the greatest Titan slayer in history. She's like a demigod, like a female Hercules of humanity, except it's a more realistic depiction of her skill than her strength, even though she is certainly physically strong. Mikasa is my all-time favourite female protagonist. Forget DC comics' Wonder Woman, Marvel's Mocking Bird or The Bride from Kill Bill. Imagine if Dante and Vergil from Devil May Cry had a sister. That's a bit like what Mikasa is like. She's such a badass warrior, and then some. And now that Eren's dead, it changes things. Mikasa is now the series protagonist. This is bigger than Liu Kang from Mortal Kombat getting killed off at the start of Deadly Alliance to pave the way for characters like Kung Lao and Subzero to take up the hero mantel. And now it looks like Armin is now the main male character of the series. He watched his best friend die and might have saved him if he wasn't so scared stiff. It's cool how he's been slowly built up in this series so far. First his patents are killed and now his best friend - Erin, the main character - has been killed off too. It has such a wonderful "Legacy" feel to it. I can't wait to see how Armin develops on from here, determined to be stronger. It's like the spirit of Eren had entered Armin, and Armin is now the raging male protagonist who must be stronger. It feels poetic, and it also feels very mature. It's f***ing epic! Po-epic - Something that is poetically epic. It's a word I just made up. And it's a solid definition for Attack on Titan.

I've seen both and I just find Elementary to be more entertaining than Sherlock. What about Elementary do you find more entertaining than Sherlock (honest question, not trying to sound like a jerk)? The characters first off. I just like them better and I feel Sherlock is funnier in Elementary than he is in BBC's show. I watched an episode last night where he kept thinking he'd walk in on someone dead and they weren't. "Alive. Again. Why can't anyone be dead?" That had me laughing for a good while lol. I also am surprised at how much I like a female Watson, that or it just speaks volumes about the skills of the actress. And then there's the story which I found more, I don't know, better? I don't know how to describe it, but while I did enjoy Sherlock I'm having more fun with Elementary. Also I'm 22 today! Huzzah!

Sigh, it was heart breaking when Linkara mentioned that at Midwest Con. Although, I try to stick to 2.99 bucks when possible so I don't know. I guess I'll go back to graphic novels again?!

Malnutritioned kid from Africa hears about the Ice Bucket Challenge: "SO LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT. YOU WASTE CLEAN WATER AS A CHALLENGE IN ORDER TO AVOID RAISING MONEY FOR CHARITY?"Lol. I think you missed the part where it raises awareness for ALS. Those who dump the water then donate $10 (or whatever amount in their own currency). Those who refuse to do the challenge are expected to donate $100. Other people donate more than $10 even after doing the challenge. By very public figures doing the challenge, it brings ALS to the attention of others who might want to donate to this. Even Stephen Amell has done the challenge (much to the squeals of his fangirls). It's a great cause and every bit donated helps.

There's a lot of fresh water our nations could donate which would be much more sufficient than the government and the charity's charity workers often taking 80-90% of the money raised. I think the government take something like 30% from most big charities, but it's the charity workers that take the biggest cut because that's how it works. It provides jobs, even to a handful of my friends who are charity workers. But obviously in the world we live in we're not going to donate fresh water. But water purification centres can be operated by just a single person now.

So the worst thing has happened to me: my PS3 is having issues. A flashing red light and apparently according to Sony the only thing I can do is mail it to them for help. It's out of warranty and they want $79. I'm not exactly rolling in cash and had been planning to move in a year or two so I was saving every penny I could find. This also will pretty harshly affect my gaming channel as all my saves are on that console. So I have to go find 360 versions of the game I was playing on the channel and start over.

It could save you a lot of money if you have a lot of time on your hands to play it in a week. Another option is selling your ps3 for parts on craigslist. I don't have a ps3 so I don't know if the hard drive can be taken out but if it can then maybe you can switch out the hard drive then sell your ps3 for parts and use that money to buy another ps4 at a site like cowboom. Right now I am despising Sony because despite an hour of trying they refuse to recognize my home address as a real place. I've tried every combination I can and it still says it's invalid and sadly their customer service people are not awake this early. I'm just hoping that maybe the PS3 was just overheated and will work when I try later today. If not, it's 360 gaming for me for the foreseeable future, although I'm pissed I lost access to some important save files, including my Dragon Age game files and Skyrim.

Telling you to make the jump to current generation consoles! There's not many decent titles coming out for the PS3 anymore so it's not exactly beneficial getting a last generation console at this point. If you get a PS3, there won't be much to play, and by then you might be considering picking up a PS4 so you can play all the new games. It shouldn't take too long to save up for a deposit for a flat. If it's rent you're saving up for, you need a steady paying job because you'll likely be paying that same amount of money each month until you leave. Then again, if you're saving for a mortgage then fair play. Mortgage deposits are ridiculously expensive here in the UK but that might be different for America.

I thought Sin City 2 was great. Not as good as the first one but it was good. The funny thing is that the main story "A Dame to Kill For" was the weakest of the bunch but was the longest. The Johnny bit was really good and heartbreaking. Nancy was alright too but would have made a much more impact on me if I watched it like a decade ago. The problem with this movie is not the stories but that it came out a decade after the first one. That is too much time.

Wolverine12 are you reading Captain America? Now THAT is Remender's best book. Oldman Steve Rogers still kicks a ton of ass. The funny thing is that the main story "A Dame to Kill For" was the weakest of the bunch but was the longest. I've been hearing the exact opposite. All I'm hearing is how if Eva Green wasn't in this it'd be one of the worst films this year.
